We are seeking to establish a pool of School Officers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Newman Senior High School (SHS) is the jewel in the Iron Heart of the Pilbara. Our staff are committed to supporting every student to make exceptional progress, enjoy learning and be motivated by ‘The Newman Way’—our school values of Care and Compassion, Respect and Responsibility.

Our school is fortunate to receive strong support from the Newman community and local industry. This includes the Pilbara Education Partnership with BHP, the Follow the Dream program and partnerships with local businesses that provide workplace learning and school-based traineeship opportunities for our students.

The Role

As a School Officer at Newman Senior High School, you will be part of a friendly and collaborative corporate services team supporting the day-to-day operation of the school.

School Officers are often a key point of contact for students, families, staff and visitors, so we are looking for people who are approachable, professional and confident communicating with a wide range of people. Strong customer service, organisation and attention to detail will be important, along with the ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to a busy school environment.

Our School Officers work across a broad range of administrative and operational functions. Depending on the needs of the school, opportunities may include areas such as reception, enrolments, attendance, finance, curriculum support, human resources, communications, library services and student support.

We welcome applicants with a range of skills and experience and particularly value people who are reliable, flexible and willing to learn. Experience in a school environment is advantageous, but not essential, and applicants with transferable administration, customer service, finance, HR, data management or similar experience are encouraged to apply.

You will ideally be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, using initiative when required and supporting colleagues across different areas of the school. Above all, we are looking for people who will contribute positively to our team and to the welcoming and supportive environment we aim to provide for our students and community.

We are open to discussing flexible working hours and arrangements with suitable applicants.
