Coodanup College is a caring learning environment where we support our students to strive for excellent standards of achievement and behaviour. Located in south-eastern Mandurah, our college caters for students in Years 7 to12. Through our motto 'Explore. Dream. Discover.' our college is known for encouraging our students to explore through their learning, dream about what they want to achieve at school and beyond, and discover ways to be the best they can be.

We focus strongly on high standards across the school community, where staff work together to assist students to achieve their full potential. We know that senior schooling is vitally important, and our continued focus on Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) performance, Vocational Education and Training and General Pathways will give students the knowledge and skills they need to have a wide choice of options in line with their interests and goals for when they leave school. Students have access to a broad range of programs in purpose-built facilities, such as Science, Agriculture, Automotive Technology, Media and The Arts. Programs like these, combined with excellent teaching and support staff, ensure that students receive a personalised, high-quality education.

The Role

As a School Attendance Officer, you will ideally support the school community in strengthening student engagement, attendance and participation in education. The successful applicant should display effective communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, families, regional education staff and the wider community to identify causes of absenteeism and assist in supporting students in overcoming these issues.

The role provides an opportunity to contribute to establishing systems and processes to increase school attendance and accountability for non-attendance by creating individual student attendance improvement plans, as well as participate in collaborative case conferences and attendance panels. Experience supporting students and families to improve attendance, participation and retention would be highly advantageous.

Successful applicant would ideally display strong organisational skills and attention to detail, particularly in maintaining student-specific case notes, briefing notes, and relevant attendance information for reporting to the school and regional administration on a regular basis. An understanding of relevant Department of Education policies, legislation, guidelines and procedures would also be highly regarded for this application.
