About us

The Department of Treasury and Finance is at the centre of Government decision-making. As the principal economic and financial advisor, we provide leadership and strategic advice and influence to support the delivery of services and outcomes for the benefit of Western Australia.

What we do is integral to the Government’s decision-making processes about where and how to spend taxpayer’s money to ensure Western Australians have access to quality services on a financially sustainable basis.

We lead procurement and leverage our buying power to secure products and services for government, achieving value for money for WA.

We collect revenue to fund government services and administer payment of grants and subsidies to the WA community.

The work area

The Procurement Policy and Strategy business unit is responsible for a whole of government approach to procurement policy including administration of the Procurement Act, procurement systems and intelligence as well as whole of government common use arrangements and assurance functions that efficiently meets the business needs of government agencies, manages risks and delivers value for money.

The opportunity

Are you passionate about social procurement? We are looking for motivated and passionate people to join us and make a difference for Western Australia.

You will lead policy development initiatives, promote best practice social procurement across government, and provide advice to Government and stakeholders and review and monitor policy performance. Social procurement policies are aimed at increasing government supplier diversity and providing greater contracting opportunities to marginalised groups, focusing on Aboriginal businesses and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, and increasing employment opportunities for people with disability.

One position will lead the team that administers the Aboriginal Procurement Policy; the other position will leads initiatives to increase employment of people with disability through government procurement.

In the role, you will:

• Lead a small and motivated team delivering WA Government social procurement initiatives
• Develop policy initiatives and drive change and best practice social procurement across the WA public sector
• Engage with data and stakeholders to identify capability gaps and develop strategic responses to address them.

We currently have two (2) fixed term full-time positions available for filling for up to 12 months within the social procurement function with the possibility of extension and/or permanency in the future.
