The Building and Energy Division has a strong focus on safety of the Western Australian community. The Division sets and monitors the technical standards for building and plumbing services, electricity and gas networks, and consumer installations and appliances. The Division also audits, inspects and investigates complaints and breaches of legislation. It also regulates and monitors the behaviour of those who are licensed and operate in these industries.
The role
As Plumbing Inspection Manager, you'll guide a team of skilled inspectors, oversee complex compliance activities, and help shape regulatory outcomes that protect the Western Australian community. From leading inspections and investigations to providing expert technical advice, you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining high standards across the plumbing industry.
You will collaborate with industry and government stakeholders, champion continuous improvement, and develop a high-performing team committed to delivering exceptional compliance outcomes and your ability to build strong relationships, provide expert advice, analyse complex issues and drive continuous improvement will position you for success in this important leadership role.
You are an experienced plumbing professional, with substantial knowledge of plumbing compliance, inspection and licensing requirements. As a licensed plumbing contractor, you bring proven leadership experience, sound regulatory judgement, and a track record of delivering effective compliance outcomes in complex operational environments.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department and across the WA public sector for the next 12 months, from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.
Eligibility
To be eligible for a permanent appointment, applicants must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia at the time of application. - Certificate IV in Government Investigations or equivalent experience and skills in investigations.
- Substantial experience in all aspects of plumbing inspection work including the management and planning of plumbing compliance functions (or similar).
- Demonstrated highly developed communication and interpersonal skills to build and sustain effective relationships and partnerships, and a high degree of competency in project/team management.
