This is a Fixed Term Full Time appointment for 12 months with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.

Position Profile: We are currently seeking to appoint a Nurse Educator – Mental Health.

Responsible for the development, facilitation, implementation and evaluation of educational and professional development programs, including management of mandatory, monitored and recommended training, resources and strategies for WACHS Mental Health and related services. Areas of accountability include the provision of education/programs to maintain and improve clinical standards, quality of consumer care, clinical research and staff professional development, the provision of leadership and monitoring policy development. The position is responsible for the continuation and growth of the Transition to Practice Mental Health Nurse Program. The Nurse Educator practices within their scope of practice considerate of the Nursing and Midwifery Board’s Nursing Practice Decision Flowchart.

  1.  Demonstrated ability to design, implement, coordinate and evaluate contemporary, evidence-based mental health education and professional development programs that support workforce capability and improved clinical practice across diverse service settings.
  2.  Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, professional guidance and support to nursing staff and educators, fostering effective teamwork, professional development and a culture of continuous learning 
  3.  Highly developed communication, consultation and negotiation skills, with the ability to build productive relationships and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, education providers and other internal and external stakeholders 
  4.  Demonstrated ability to analyse complex issues, identify workforce development needs and implement practical, evidence-informed solutions that support organisational priorities and service improvement
  5. Demonstrated knowledge and application of quality improvement, clinical governance and research principles to support safe, high-quality mental health service delivery and continuous workforce development
