Through excellence and fairness in public education, the Department is committed to creating conditions for learning through high-quality teaching, strong leadership and responsive services that meet the diverse needs of students and communities.
Statewide Services supports this vision by providing coordinated, evidence-informed services and expertise that strengthen outcomes for students, schools and the wider system. The Primary, Early Childhood and Education Support branch leads initiatives that promote early learning, parenting capacity and community engagement, particularly in communities experiencing vulnerability. Through evidence-based programs, including those delivered through the Child and Parent Centres (CPCs) and the Triple P - Positive Parenting Program, the branch supports children and families while providing consultancy and strategic support to school psychologists statewide. This work contributes to system-level planning, policy development and the implementation of high-impact practices that improve outcomes for children and families.
The Role
The successful applicant will lead and oversee the provision of coordinated early childhood, Kindergarten to Year 6 (K-6) and education support expertise to regions and to schools identified as requiring support. This includes managing and monitoring the delivery of support, with a focus on developing and implementing whole-school approaches that improve the quality of teaching and improve student achievement. The role ensures that services and resources align with and support system priorities and the contextual needs of individual schools and their communities.
The role is responsible for managing the planning and implementation of State and Commonwealth initiatives and projects in early childhood, K-6 and education support. This includes monitoring and reporting on achievements, and accountability for the outputs of relevant staff, and ensures initiatives and projects are within agreed timeframes and budgets.
The successful applicant will lead the development of policy and key messages relating to curriculum, pedagogy and assessment across primary education. They will also provide subject matter expertise to inform the development of system-wide professional learning and resources.
In addition, the role is responsible for managing the administrative and business functions of the branch, including allocating resources in accordance with business plans and maintaining control over relevant expenditure and budgets.
