Do you want to work alongside others in a brand-new school, that will deliver an exceptional primary school experience to the Piara Waters community?

Piara Waters West (Planning Name) will be the school of choice for the Piara Waters community. A dedicated focus on the health and wellbeing of all stakeholders will be the foundation to creating caring, accomplished and future focussed individuals. We are dedicated to our responsibility of being a culturally responsive school to celebrate all of our students and the backgrounds and cultures from which they connect to.

The Role

As a Library Officer, you would play an important role in establishing and maintaining a welcoming, vibrant and engaging library environment that supports the learning and wellbeing of our students. You would be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the library, including providing reference, information and associated services to students, staff and families.

You would administer library systems, ensuring records are accurate and up to date, and maintain, process and organise library resources so they are accessible and available to students and staff. You should support students and staff to locate and select appropriate resources, assist with library skills and the use of library equipment, coordinate library visits and contribute to the ongoing development of the library collection. Experience with library systems, resource management and stocktakes would be highly desirable.

Working collaboratively with teaching staff, you would contribute to creating a positive and engaging library environment that encourages students to develop a love of reading, learning and information. You may also supervise small groups of students in library-related activities and provide support to library staff and volunteers.

In addition to your library responsibilities, the role will provide general administration and School Officer support to the school. This will include preparing correspondence, newsletters, notices and other school materials; maintaining school databases, records and management systems; assisting with student enrolment processes and documentation; and supporting the administration of school resources and facilities.

The role will also include front office and reception responsibilities, providing a welcoming and professional first point of contact for students, parents, staff, visitors and the wider school community. This will include greeting visitors, answering telephone enquiries, responding to routine enquiries and requests for information, and providing friendly, efficient and professional customer service. You should contribute to ensuring the school office is welcoming, organised and responsive to the needs of our school community.

Library Officers would also provide administrative support with financial, asset and resource management, including assisting with financial processes such as account and GST coding, reconciliations and invoice processing, maintaining asset and resource records, assisting with stocktakes and supporting the ordering of library and office consumables.

The suitable applicants will ideally be an organised, approachable and adaptable team member who can work effectively both independently and as part of a team. You should bring strong customer service and communication skills, a commitment to supporting students and staff, and the ability to manage a range of competing priorities across both the library and school office.
