About the role 
We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated Laboratory Technicians to join our Scientific Services Division. The Laboratory Technician supports the delivery of high-quality analytical services through routine sample preparation, laboratory analysis, equipment operation and maintenance, data management and customer-focused service delivery, while maintaining quality and safety standards. 

Organic Chemistry positions: will contribute to routine organic chemical analyses and sample preparation activities. Applicants seeking consideration for Organic Chemistry 3, in addition to laboratory duties, will have experience undertaking laboratory administration functions, including sample registration and sample management activities.

Environmental Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry position: will support inorganic analytical services, including the preparation and analysis of environmental, soil, sediment and mining-related samples. The role includes manual handling activities in accordance with safe work procedures. 

To be successful in either position, you will have a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment. You will also have a good understanding of laboratory safety requirements and possess a Certificate or Diploma level qualification in Laboratory Techniques and/or have relevant work experience. 

These full-time positions are offered on a fixed term contract for twelve (12) months, with the possibility for extension and/or permanency. 

Applicants assessed as suitable but not recommended for this vacancy may be considered for similar positions for up to 12 months after the selection process is finalised. 

Eligibility 
For a fixed term appointment, you must have valid Australian working rights for the full contract period. ChemCentre is not able to provide employer visa sponsorship arrangements for this vacancy.

Prior to commencing employment, a National Police Clearance, fitness for work assessment via alcohol and drug testing, and proof of identity will be required.

For Inorganic Chemistry: EC 2: Experience in inorganic chemistry, analytical procedures and instrumental techniques.

For both positions: 
EC 4: Experience in the use of computers in a scientific environment and good Microsoft Office skills. 
EC 6: Ability to work within a team environment.
