The Opportunity
This newly created position provides an exciting opportunity to take ownership of information governance and play a key role in shaping how information is managed, protected and used across the Metropolitan Cemeteries Board (MCB), while strengthening and advancing the function.
You'll have the opportunity to influence contemporary approaches to information governance, records management, privacy and access to information. The role provides specialist advice to leaders and employees, strengthens governance frameworks, manages compliance and risk, and builds organisational capability through education, guidance and continuous improvement.
As an experienced information management professional, you'll bring strong technical knowledge and a practical, service-focused approach. You'll balance governance and compliance requirements with the operational needs, helping the MCB strengthen and mature its practices. Key responsibilities include;
- Develop, implement and improve information governance frameworks, recordkeeping plans, policies and procedures.
- Manage and optimise the Electronic Document and Records Management System (EDRMS).
- Monitor, audit and report on compliance with legislative, policy and organisational information management obligations, identify risks and improvements.
- Coordinate information retention, disposal and access activities in accordance with legislative requirements.
- Manage Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, privacy matters and information breaches, in accordance with legislative obligations and statutory timeframes.
- Build organisational capability through training, coaching and practical guidance.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Experience leading information management, records management, privacy and/or access to information functions.
- Ability to build effective working relationships and influence stakeholders.
- Experience developing and delivering frameworks, training and guidance on information management, privacy or compliance.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and investigate issues, and implement practical solutions.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge and practical application of relevant legislation including State Records Act 2000 (WA), Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act 2024 (WA), Freedom of Information Act 1992 (WA).
