The District Court is seeking applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to apply for casual jobs as Court Appointed Officers.

This talent register will run for a period of 12 months and will be used to fill ongoing casual opportunities.

Role

As a Court Appointed Officer, you will help children and other witnesses in criminal matters who need to give evidence from a remote room instead of the main courtroom.

You’ll help them understand what will happen, show them the room they will use, and explain how the video link works so they can speak to the court safely and comfortably.

While you won’t be providing emotional counselling, you will work closely with support services to make sure each witness feels safe, prepared, and looked after.

If you’re calm, good with people, and confident using technology, this role offers a meaningful chance to support the community and play an important part in the justice process.

This is a casual position with an hourly rate of $49.14. We encourage applications of all genders and from anyone aged 18 and over.

  • A Working with Children Check is required, but if you don’t have one yet, we can support you through the process of obtaining it.
  • Travel isn’t required, but if you choose to, there are opportunities to travel to a number of regional locations throughout WA.
