The Role
As a member of the school's Leadership Team, you should work collaboratively with the Principal and Executive Team to provide strategic educational leadership that advances the school's vision, priorities and improvement agenda. You would lead the Science Learning Area while contributing to whole-school leadership, fostering a culture of high expectations, collaboration and continuous improvement that supports every student to achieve their personal best.
As an instructional leader, you should inspire excellence in teaching and learning through coaching, mentoring and the strategic development of staff. You should build the leadership capability of teachers, promote evidence-informed practice, and lead professional learning that strengthens teaching quality and improves student outcomes. You would work alongside your team and ideally cultivate a collaborative culture in which innovation is encouraged, professional growth is valued, and reflective practice is embedded.
The Head of Learning Area Science would also lead the development, implementation and evaluation of the Science Learning Area Operational Plan, ensuring it aligns with the school's strategic direction and Department of Education priorities and goals. Through the effective use of student achievement data and evidence, you will monitor progress, evaluate impact and drive continuous improvement in curriculum delivery, teaching practice and student engagement.
As a whole school leader, the successful applicant should actively contribute to the planning, implementation and review of school improvement initiatives. You would work across learning areas to support shared goals, recognising that sustainable improvement is achieved through collective responsibility, strong relationships and a commitment to excellence in public education.
Success in this role is supported by the ability to build positive and productive relationships with students, staff, families and the wider community. You will ideally be a highly effective communicator, an authentic and reflective leader, and a collaborative team member who values feedback, embraces change and is committed to ongoing professional learning and development.
