The role

Our Information Management Services Branch provides leadership, direction, advice and support to facilitate information access and management across the department. The branch supports all departmental employees to comply with their legal obligations for information and records management.

As a Freedom of Information Officer, you will assist the Coordinator Freedom of Information and delegated officers of the department perform the functions as prescribed in the Freedom of Information Act 1992 and assists in responses to information requests from lawyers, consultants, other government agencies and members of the public.

This may include assisting with the co-ordination of information from operational areas of the department to provide responses to interested parties, ensuring that all applications made under the Freedom of Information Act 1992 are dealt within the timeframes as per the Freedom of Information legislation, researching and evaluating requested documents, ensuring compliance with the Financial Administration and Audit Act and other regulations, as well as other key duties.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department and across the WA public sector for the next 12 months, from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a permanent appointment, applicants must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia at the time of application. Applicants with a valid visa to work and live in Australia for a specific duration may be assessed and considered suitable for similar fixed term vacancies that arise.

To be employed with LGIRS, you must meet the pre-employment requirements of the position and provide consent to undertake relevant pre-employment screening, which may include a Conflict of Interest Declaration, medical assessment, psychometric assessment, Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, and/or other relevant checks and clearances.

This role is identified as having a higher likelihood of exposure to potentially traumatic events. This is any distressing experience or situation in which an individual’s physical or psychological wellbeing may be threatened.
