VenuesWest is seeking an accomplished and values-led executive to join our Executive Team as Executive Director Governance. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and acting as Company Secretary to the VenuesWest Board, this pivotal role provides strategic leadership across governance, communications, risk, assurance, Ministerial liaison, internal audit, corporate policy, integrity, information governance and statutory accountability.

As a member of the Executive Team, you will help shape VenuesWest’s strategic direction, culture, policy settings and organisational performance. You will provide trusted advice to the CEO, Board and Minister; lead high-quality governance and accountability systems; and build strong partnerships across government and with key stakeholders. You will also lead the Governance Directorate and support its people to deliver responsive, practical and continuously improving services across the organisation.

What you will lead:

  • Corporate governance, including your responsibilities as Company Secretary.
  • Ministerial, Cabinet, Parliamentary and whole-of-government liaison and coordination.
  • Enterprise risk, compliance, internal audit, integrity and corporate policy frameworks.
  • Strategic communications and stakeholder engagement, including proactive and responsive communications.
  • Freedom of Information, Public Interest Disclosure, information governance and emerging governance obligations, including AI governance.
  • A capable, collaborative and high-performing Governance Directorate that models the VenuesWest Way.

This is a full time, fixed term role for a period of 5 years with the possibility of extension. As a member of the Executive team, the nature of this position requires flexibility, including the possibility of attendance at meetings and functions outside standard office hours. Flexible working arrangements, including work from home, will be discussed with shortlisted candidates.

Whilst the position will be primarily based at the Perth High Performance Centre in Mount Claremont, mobility will be required between the portfolio of facilities.
