This is for three Fixed Term Part Time appointments for 64 hours per fortnight (0.8 FTE), with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.

Aboriginality is a genuine occupational requirement of this position under Section 50D of the WA Equal Opportunity Act.

An exciting opportunity exists for Aboriginal Enrolled Nurses to participate in an Early Practitioner Program, where they will receive specialised training and education that supports the development of their knowledge and skills in acute paediatric and neonatology settings. This program is open to Enrolled Nurses with up to 3 years nursing experience, including newly qualified nurses.

The 12-month program offers 2 six month working placements across Neonatology and the Perth Children’s Hospital Emergency Department. Positions will be offered at a minimum of 6 shifts per fortnight, up to 8 shifts. Participants will be provided comprehensive orientation, education and support throughout the program.

Position Profile: We are seeking a suitably experienced and enthusiastic person to join our team as an Enrolled Nurse.

In this position you will be responsible for the delivery of competent, compassionate, safe and evidenced based nursing care on a shift by shift basis to patients and their families using the Scope of Nursing Practice Decision Making Framework. Key responsibilities include:

  • Evaluate nursing care and report changes in patient condition and/or family situation or nursing care planning to the Registered Nurse.

  • Identify and communicate rapidly changing situations to the Registered Nurse
  • Contribute to nursing team functioning and participate within the team.
  • Support and liaise with patients, carers, colleagues, medical, nursing, allied health, support staff, external agencies and the private sector to assist with the provision of coordinated multidisciplinary care.
