We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role

As a Special Needs Education Assistant, you will work collaboratively with teachers and allied professionals to support high-quality educational programs that enhance student engagement, communication, independence, achievement and post-school outcomes.

We are seeking applicants who are passionate about improving outcomes for students with complex disabilities and committed to fostering independence, engagement and growth.

Experience supporting students with special needs is highly desirable, particularly in:

• Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)
• Direct Instruction
• Positive Behaviour Support
• Key Word Sign
• Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems and tools
• Electronic and paper-based communication strategies
• iPads and other ICT tools
• Interactive whiteboards
• Personal care and health support
• Behaviour management and de-escalation strategies

Suitable applicants should be able to apply techniques, skills and knowledge and relevant principles and practices acquired though previous experience, on the job training or relevant educational qualifications.
