About us

The Department of Treasury and Finance is at the centre of Government decision-making. As the principal economic and financial advisor, we provide leadership and strategic advice and influence to support the delivery of services and outcomes for the benefit of Western Australia.

What we do is integral to the Government’s decision-making processes about where and how to spend taxpayer’s money to ensure Western Australians have access to quality services on a financially sustainable basis.

We lead procurement and leverage our buying power to secure products and services for government, achieving value for money for WA.

We collect revenue to fund government services and administer payment of grants and subsidies to the WA community.

The work area

This role sits within the Housing Supply Directorate which is part of the Economic Business Unit. The Housing Supply Unit oversees the development of market-wide housing policy, including measures to boost housing supply, improve choice and affordability, and support the workforce needed to deliver the State’s economic and service delivery priorities. The Unit takes a lead rode in advising Government on the policy settings underpinning the housing market in Western Australia. It also leads consultation with the residential building industry and the property development sector.

To be considered, you will need to have proven leadership experience in building and leading a dynamic team that is able to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders and deliver high level strategic and practical policy advice to government. You will also require:

• extensive experience in policy making and have strong problem-solving skills to address complex challenges;
• excellent communication and interpersonal skills to enable you to build relationships and negotiate and influence key stakeholders; and
• ability to adapt to change, manage competing and tight deadlines and deliver on high leverage areas.

In this role, you will:

• provide proactive leadership and clear direction to the Housing Supply team.
• lead the development of market-wide housing policy including the execution of strategies and solutions, and provide expert advice to Treasury and Finance Executive, Ministers and other key stakeholders. 
• work in partnership with key stakeholder groups, including other public sector agencies, government trading enterprises, the residential construction and building industry, and the property development sector to identify and deliver policy solutions to address barriers to housing supply.
