We are seeking to establish a pool of Deputy Principals for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2027 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Our school motto, 'Wisdom and Courage', derived from the traits of our mascot, the Gryphon, is reflected in the strength of our community. The people of Lockridge are steadfast in their connection to our school and the land on which we learn and grow together is culturally and historically rich. These two qualities provide a strong foundation on which to help our students become quality social citizens. Located in the City of Swan, we are fortunate to be on country that has been inhabited for over 40,000 years by the Whadjuk Noongar people.
We are a values-driven school, who pride ourselves on fostering a culture through our positive approach to relationships, learning and life. This approach helps us support our students to understand and demonstrate our values of RESPECT, SAFE and HIGH STANDARDS. These values help our students exhibit the skills necessary to live strong, healthy lives, with the term, 'Lockridge Strong' becoming synonymous with our school community over recent years when celebrating our successes.

The Role
Suitable applicants will ideally be collaborative in striving to strengthen our vision of being “a connected community where everyone belongs”, whilst having rich capacity to improve academic, social and emotional outcomes for students. The diversity of our student cohort requires our educators to possess a strong capacity to integrate trauma-informed practices and differentiate the program in order to meet the needs of our community. Suitable applicants should have evidenced capacity to engage the Positive Behaviours Support (PBS) initiative, as well as other evidence-based wellbeing programs, allowing them to implement a range of positive engagement strategies. Suitable applicants will ideally display a strong capacity to manage complex behaviours of students, including those with diagnosed or imputed disabilities. This would include implementing Individual Behaviour Plans, Risk Management Plans, Escalation Behaviour Profiles and Transition Plans and linking with stakeholders including but not limited to School of Special Education Needs, Child Protection and Family Support and the Child Development Service. A commitment to promoting student wellbeing through proactive, inclusive and whole-school initiatives, alongside the implementation of culturally responsive practices that recognise, value and celebrate the diverse backgrounds of our school community, is highly desirable.
As a collaborative and relational leader, the Deputy Principal would contribute to the school’s strategic direction by supporting the development and implementation of a new business plan in 2027, while ensuring effective day-to-day operations. Through fostering strong, positive relationships with staff, students and families, the Deputy Principal will help build a culture of continuous improvement, collective responsibility and a shared commitment to excellence and success for every student.
Suitable applicants will ideally display highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the capacity to establish and sustain positive, respectful relationships with students and parents/carers. A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, provide support to peers and contribute positively to a cohesive and high-performing team is essential. As finalists in two categories of the 2024 WA Education Awards and winners of the Excellence in Wellbeing and Learning category, Lockridge Primary School places a strong emphasis on staff wellbeing, collaboration and a positive school culture. The successful applicant will display their capacity to add to the culture of our school community.
