The Role

In collaboration with the Principal and the Executive team, the successful applicant will provide high-level strategic leadership in the school and the community by developing and promoting the school’s vision, Business Plan and strategic directions across the school community. They play a significant role in ensuring the school has the people, structures, systems and organisational processes required to effectively deliver its educational priorities. The position will have a particular leadership focus on workforce and people operations, whole-school timetabling, operational planning and organisational effectiveness.

The successful applicant will ideally be an accomplished and highly collaborative school leader with the capacity to lead complex change, develop innovative solutions and build productive professional relationships across the school community. They should display the ability to coach and develop colleagues, strengthen the capability of leaders and teams, and support others to improve their practice and effectiveness. The successful applicant should also be able to work collaboratively with students, families and the wider community to support student engagement, learning and successful educational outcomes. This emphasis is consistent with the leadership expectations already articulated in the draft advertisement.

A key aspect of the role will be working across educational and operational portfolios to ensure workforce deployment, timetabling and organisational systems are responsive to the needs of students and staff. The successful applicant should use evidence and sound judgement to manage competing priorities, lead improvement and establish clear, efficient and sustainable ways of working.

As a Deputy Principal at Willetton SHS, the successful applicant will ideally also contribute more broadly to whole-school leadership and improvement. They will ideally be expected to exercise sound strategic judgement, support the implementation of school priorities, contribute to a positive and high-performing professional culture and build the capacity of others to lead improvement.

Knowledge and recent experience in leading complex school operations, workforce or people management, whole-school timetabling, organisational improvement and significant change would be highly regarded.
