We are currently seeking Consultant Physicians to join our Home Hospital (HH) team.

Given the generalist nature of the HH position, dual training (e.g. General Medical/Geriatrics/Infectious Diseases/Cardiology/Endocrine/Renal) or specialists in generalist areas such as ED are highly regarded. Physicians from any of these specialties with generalist interest are encouraged to apply.

In this role, you will lead the multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive specialist inpatient care to patients in their own home. You will promote patient safety and quality of care. You will provide leadership, orientation, training, supervision, and education, where relevant, for doctors in training, Health Service Medical Practitioners and other health workers. In collaboration with the Medical Director of Community Services, Head of Department Home Hospital and other Consultants works to achieve national, state and SMHS performance standards and targets. You will also work within the scope of clinical practice as defined and recommended by the SMHS Area Medical Credentialing Committee.

We offer permanent and fixed-term opportunities, with possibility of extensions and/or permanency. These roles are available on a sessional, full-time or part-time basis. Job-share arrangements may be considered.

Organisational Requirements:

• Applicants may be required to work across the three (3) Home Hospital bases at Fiona Stanley Hospital, Rockingham General Hospital, and Peel Health Campus.
• To ensure continuity any contracts offered will need to be a minimum of 0.25 FTE
• Most of the role will be hospital based, though there may be a requirement for occassional home visiting (via a fleet car)
• Consultants are required to cover an on-call roster on a rotational basis. This includes recall as required over the weekends
