WHY WE NEED YOU

The Western Australia Police Force (WA Police Force) often have short term vacancies while our employees take periods of leave, are deployed elsewhere in the department or are seconded to other agencies within the public sector. In addition to this, we also regularly need people to work on projects with funding for a finite period or to meet the short term needs of a branch when workload is high.

Depending on the business needs for the branch, we often require full-time and part-time staff for periods of up to twelve (12) months.

For an overview of the WA Police Force please visit our Government of Western Australia website.

ABOUT THE FIREARMS REFORM PROGRAM SHORT-TERM OPPORTUNITIES

The WA Police Force is responsible for policing the world’s largest single police jurisdiction, covering approximately 2.5 million square kilometres across Western Australia.

The Firearms Reform Division is responsible for supporting the Government’s commitment to improving community safety through the strengthened regulation of firearms in Western Australia.

The Firearms Act Reform Program supports this work through legislative reform, delivery of an information technology solution to support compliance with the Firearms Act 2024, and implementation of associated change management activities across the Agency.

Successful applicants will contribute to the delivery of firearms reform by providing information, support and advice to members of the public and WA Police Force personnel in relation to firearms licensing enquiries. Previous customer service experience will be highly regarded; however, applicants who can demonstrate the ability and willingness to develop relevant skills are encouraged to apply.

A separate operational stream is responsible for receiving incoming firearms, ensuring appropriate storage arrangements, purging holdings in accordance with relevant legislation, and maintaining quality work practices.

Please note applicants interested in the Property and Exhibits Officer role must be willing and able to travel throughout Western Australia, as required.

Current opportunities include:

  • Licensing Support Officer – Level 2
  • Property and Exhibits Officer – Level 2
  • Licensing Transitional Officer – Level 2
