This is a 12 month fixed term, full-time position commencing ASAP with possible extension (12 months) and/or permanency 

The Education Business Services (EBS) division provides professional business services and support to Western Australian public schools, statutory boards and Department divisions. EBS delivers services across finance, information and communication technologies (ICT), and infrastructure, with a strong focus on enhancing organisational capability, improving systems and processes, and supporting the delivery of high-quality education outcomes. The division is committed to contemporary work practices and service delivery principles that are responsive, flexible, transparent, accountable and collaborative.

The School Financial Management and Support Branch forms part of the Financial Services Directorate and is responsible for providing schools with support and advice on transactional and technical financial matters, as well as finance policy guidance. The Branch also coordinates school financial systems and delivers training and support to ensure effective financial management practices across schools.

The Role

The role is responsible for the design, development and delivery of statewide training programs and workshops relating to the Department’s school finance systems and effective financial management practices in schools. This includes identifying training needs, developing contemporary learning resources and materials, evaluating training effectiveness, and implementing improvements to ensure programs remain current, relevant and aligned with industry trends and Department requirements. The role also provides specialist advice and support on learning and development strategies, competency-based training and assessment, and contributes to the delivery of presentations at conferences and professional forums.

The position provides leadership and project support in the coordination and ongoing improvement of school finance system training modules, including school billing, finance and asset management. The role contributes to the development, implementation and review of policies, standards and strategies to ensure compliance with legislative and Department requirements, while supporting the effective use of school finance systems across schools. The position also assists in fostering a safe, inclusive and collaborative work environment that supports organisational and team objectives.

The role works closely with internal and external stakeholders to identify learning and development needs, coordinate training activities and resources, and build strong working relationships across the Department. In collaboration with Financial Services teams, the position identifies trends and areas for improvement to develop targeted training solutions that support schools in achieving effective financial and business management outcomes.
