About Our Team:

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Western Australia offer support, advice and treatment to children and adolescents from birth to 18 years who are experiencing mental health challenges.

CAMHS Inpatient and Hospital in the Home Service, located at Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH), Hollywood Hospital, and patient home settings, is an acute mental health inpatient service authorised under the WA Mental Health Act (2014). It provides 24/7 therapeutic care for children and adolescents up to 16 years old who require acute psychiatric support, whether admitted voluntarily or involuntarily when less restrictive care options are not suitable.

As the state-wide CAMHS Inpatient and Hospital in the Home Service offers a safe, developmentally appropriate, and therapeutic environment. The multidisciplinary team works closely with families and carers to deliver comprehensive diagnostic assessments, tailored therapeutic programs, and recovery-oriented management.

Operating within hospital and patient home settings, the service runs a seven-day program that includes short-term assessments, diagnostic clarification, treatment initiation, and group therapies designed to meet individual needs. The service is patient- and family-centred, with a strong focus on recovery and collaboration.

About the Role:

As a Clinical Psychologist (Grade 2) you will deliver clinical services, provide quality psychological care within our service including the provision of psychological assessments and evidence-based therapeutic interventions, and participation in multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure comprehensive clinical management and intervention planning.

Some of your key accountabilities will include:

• Delivering individual, dyadic, group, community, and clinic-based therapies, including (but not limited to) cognitive behaviour therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy and family therapy.
• Conducting comprehensive psychological assessments to evaluate cognitive, emotional, behavioural, and family functioning through interviews, behavioural observations, and psychometric and psycho-diagnostic assessments.
• Providing consultation on psychological matters to colleagues, liaising with community agencies for client clinical management, and delivering education and training on psychological topics across disciplines.
• Participation in performance monitoring and evaluation and research of an applied clinical and evaluative nature.
• Supervision to Clinical Psychologist Registrars and trainees, ensuring compliance with the Psychologists Board of Australia (as per Board Approved Supervisor status).

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancies, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision. These can be permanent full time, permanent part time or fixed term full time, fixed term part time opportunities with the possibility of extension and/or permanency.
