Position Profile

The Western Australia Country Health Service is seeking dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialists – Remote for three separate locations: Bremer Bay, Jerramungup and Walpole. Each position involves autonomous operational and clinical management of the local health centre and is supported clinically with services and management from Ravensthorpe Hospital, Denmark Health Service and Albany Health Campus.

In these pivotal roles, you will deliver emergency care, and a broad range of essential healthcare services tailored to the needs of the local community, while working collaboratively within a remote healthcare setting.

About the District

The Eastern Lower Great Southern area includes Ravensthorpe, Bremer Bay, and Jerramungup, and is home to some of the most unique National Parks and Reserves in Australia including the Stirling Ranges and its most famous tourist attraction, Bluff Knoll. The Fitzgerald River National Park provides spectacular recreational opportunities within its varied landscapes.

The Lower Great Southern area includes Walpole Nursing Post, Denmark Health Service and Plantagenet Health Service, both multipurpose sites (MPS), and is home the beautiful unique Nornalup National Park and its most famous provides spectacular recreational opportunities within its varied landscapes.

Bremer Bay is southwestern Australia’s hidden treasure, known for its pristine beaches, with it’s three peninsulas offering all year-round surf and the gateway to the whale watching tours which attracts multiple people to the town.

1 Advanced clinical care in remote setting

Demonstrated ability to provide advanced, evidence-based clinical care in a remote healthcare environment, including assessment, triage, emergency response, chronic disease management and clinical decision-making, while exercising sound professional judgement and accountability.

2 Leadership and service coordination

Demonstrated capability to lead and coordinate the delivery of health services within a small rural health setting, effectively managing competing priorities, resources, operational demands and continuous improvement activities to achieve safe and high-quality patient outcomes.

3 Governance, safety, quality and legislation

Demonstrated ability to apply contemporary primary health care principles, safety and quality standards, clinical governance requirements and relevant legislation to support effective service delivery, risk management and community health outcomes.

4 Communication, stakeholder engagement and culturally responsive practice

Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with patients, community members, multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders, using strong communication, consultation and negotiation skills to deliver culturally safe and responsive healthcare services.

5 Autonomous remote practice and operational flexibility

Demonstrated capacity to work autonomously in a geographically isolated environment, adapting to changing service demands, participating in after-hours emergency response and travelling as required to support healthcare delivery across the region.
