About the Clinical Nurse Consultant Role
The role of Clinical Nurse Consultant offers genuine professional autonomy, exposure to complex and diverse clinical experiences, and the satisfaction of making a real difference at critical moments in people’s lives.
You will:
- Practises as a Senior Registered Nurse (SRN) in keeping with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board Registration Standards.
- Develop and maintain standards of practice to ensure the delivery of safe, quality patient care by all nursing personnel within the Gynae Oncology specialty, in line with the North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS) Vision, Mission and Values.
- Provide advanced clinical leadership as the single point of accountability for nursing services provided through the WNHS King Edward Memorial Hospital, WA Gynaecology Cancer Service (WAGCS).
- Provide evidence-based, women-centred expert nursing care to women with gynaecological malignancy from diagnosis through to discharge/end of life care.
- Demonstrate professional leadership, role modelling and the promotion of a positive workplace culture.
- Act as an expert clinical resource, to influence practice of nursing external to NMHS by advice/consultation.

- Your relevant expert clinical knowledge, experience and leadership in area of specialty.

- Your knowledge of legislative obligations for Equal Opportunity, Disability Services and Work Health and Safety, and how these impact on employment and service delivery.
You will be asked what role you are applying for when uploading your documentation. You will also be asked to provide details of your current Australian working rights, AHPRA registration, ANMAC approval, etc where relevant.
You must ensure your nominated referees are available to provide references when requested, as failure to do so may result in you being deemed unsuitable.
What happens next
Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies, including temporary vacancies, throughout the health service or the wider public service. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
