Do you want to be a part of a team that promotes and improves the health of its people and community?

This vacancy is for Permanent Full-Time and Permanent Part-Time appointments.

What is our Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist role?

•    The Clinical Documentation Improvement Service (CDIS) plays a vital role in improving the quality, accuracy, and completeness of clinical documentation across NMHS hospitals. Working in partnership with clinicians, the team reviews patient records, delivers education, and facilitates clinically appropriate documentation clarification queries to ensure the medical record accurately reflects the care provided, patient complexity, and clinical outcomes. This work supports patient care, data quality, performance reporting, and accurate activity-based funding.
•    As the Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist (CDIS), you will lead a team of CDI Analysts, and apply broad clinical expertise across a wide range of specialties to drive documentation excellence and support organisational performance. This is a unique opportunity to influence clinical practice, foster strong multidisciplinary relationships, and contribute to strategic healthcare improvement initiatives.
•    The CDIS provides leadership and oversight of the CDI program, including reviewing complex cases, mentoring CDI Analysts, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.  The role is also responsible for monitoring and evaluating program performance, insights and recommendation for senior management and executive stakeholders.

Suitability requirements which may be assessed to determine suitability for this position:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Clinical Documentation Improvement, including the ability to review clinical records, identify documentation deficiencies, collaborate with clinicians to improve documentation quality, and enhance the accuracy of coded data, casemix outcomes, and activity-based funding.

While your qualifications and experience tell us part of your story, your values and attitude speak louder still. At NMHS, we aim to ensure our behaviours reflect our core values: Care, Respect, Innovation, Teamwork and Integrity.  During the selection process you will be assessed on your ability to fulfil the responsibilities of this position while upholding our values.
