Start a career that’s really going places

People need to get to work, home and everywhere in between and businesses rely on our roads. With a rich history dating back to 1926 and an exciting future ahead, Main Roads Western Australia is the State Government agency responsible for safely managing WA’s road network and connecting people and places. Main Roads is not just about roads.

It’s about people, communities and creating pathways that really go places.

What work will I be doing?

Main Roads Western Australia is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our Kimberley Region as a Civil Construction Apprentice.

These Civil Construction Apprenticeships commence in January.

With opportunities in Kununurra, Broome, Derby and Special Projects based from Halls Creek or Fitzroy, you will work as part of a welcoming and tight knit team. You will work full time and build your knowledge and skills in civil construction and maintenance experience across the Kimberly road network.

Alongside formal training, you’ll learn on-the-job, guided by your supervisor and a network of support who will help you feel welcomed, valued and part of the local community. The attached information sheet provides more information on the role.

What we are looking for

We are looking for highly motivated individuals with strong problem-solving skills who love to get involved and take on new challenges and responsibilities. You enjoy working as part of a team and have a genuine interest in road maintenance and construction activities. We’re looking for people with a ‘can-do’ attitude, who are committed to working in their local region.

How does an Apprenticeship work?

As part of the Apprenticeship, you will:

  • work full-time with Main Roads while completing a three-year apprenticeship
  • complete formal training in a Certificate III in Civil Construction
  • be supported every step of the way, with our friendly Trainee and Apprenticeship Coordinator dedicated to helping you develop and learn at your best.

By the end of the program, you will have completed a Certificate III in Civil Construction and be ready to continue your career with Main Roads, with long-term development opportunities.
