About The Role:
The Chief Digital Officer (CDO) is responsible for ensuring information and communications systems and services align with Departmental outcomes and whole-of-government agenda, strategies and policies.
This includes providing functional leadership, policy development and planning for cybersecurity, digitisation, integrated service delivery, risk management and supporting implementation of strategic projects and systems.
The role leads whole of business ICT service delivery including cyber security, enterprise architecture, service integration, infrastructure support, strategic governance and application support. The role leads ensuring the Department is safe from cybersecurity threats by providing preventative, detection and monitoring capabilities.
The position also leads delivery of IT services to other government agencies.
The senior leadership role brings clear advice through current knowledge and future vision of leveraging digital and technology capabilities that lead to disruption, innovation and transformation of the business.
About You:
The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader with a proven record of delivering complex ICT transformation in large‑scale or government environments. As a contemporary people leader and collaborative executive, you thrive in complexity and actively seek opportunities to contribute to whole‑of‑agency strategic direction.
As a member of the Directorate Executive and adviser to the Director General and Executive Leadership Group, the role is expected to provide strategic advice and leadership by establishing a clear vision, responding effectively to change and uncertainty, and managing risks proactively. The CDO will also build strong partnerships with senior leaders and business stakeholders, enhancing organisational effectiveness and customer outcomes through the application of digital technology.
You demonstrate strong leadership by championing contemporary people management practices across multidisciplinary teams. You communicate complex information with clarity to engage and influence stakeholders, and you understand the importance of delivering public value to the Western Australian community through high‑quality digital services.
This position is a Multiple Area Leader. This means that you will lead teams to achieve the strategic direction of a number of different business areas or key priorities. You will implement operational strategy and take the lead for shaping its short- and medium-term directions. You will contribute strategic value by determining the focus areas for delivery through a broader lens and determine the timing of future growth in your business areas.
