The Role
As a Canteen Attendant, you will play an important role in supporting the daily operations of the Hedland Senior High School canteen. Your responsibilities will include preparing and serving food and beverages, operating the point-of-sale system, handling cash and EFTPOS transactions, restocking supplies, maintaining food preparation areas, and ensuring the canteen remains clean, organised, and welcoming for students, staff and visitors.
You will ideally assist with stock control, basic food preparation, receiving deliveries, and maintaining food safety and hygiene standards in accordance with relevant health regulations and school procedures. The role also involves washing dishes and utensils, cleaning kitchen equipment and work areas, and supporting the efficient operation of the canteen during busy service periods.
In this role, you will ideally be customer-focused, friendly, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You should have good communication and organisational skills, the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and a commitment to providing a high standard of service to the school community. A sound understanding of food handling, workplace health and safety requirements, and safe work practices will be highly regarded.
