About the role

Broome Prison is a minimum-security prison for males and short-term female offenders and also accommodates medium and maximum-security prisoners for short term remand periods. The Prison is centrally located within the Township of Broome, 2,400 km north of Perth. Broome Prison is the receival hub for new prisoners within the region and facilitates transfers of prisoners throughout the Kimberley Region and to Metro Prisons in the South.

As a member of the senior management team, the Business Manager contributes significantly to strategic leadership, direction and management of the Prison to ensure all statutory and Departmental requirements and best practice service delivery standards are met.

The Business Manager manages all of the business planning, financial, human resource, assets, information technology and administrative functions for the Prison. The position also ensures prison industry resources are used to best meet customer demand with an emphasis on production and supply; occupation safety and health; prisoner employment and training; and contract management.

Suitability Requirements

Through the recruitment process, we will be looking for a candidate who can demonstrate skills, experience and attributes in relation to the following:

Strategic Leadership and Resource Management - Demonstrated ability to lead business operations and effectively manage human, financial, physical and technological resources to achieve organisational objectives and operational outcomes.

Financial and Business Management Expertise - Experience in financial planning, budget development, resource allocation, contract management and business performance monitoring, with the ability to apply contemporary business management practices to improve organisational effectiveness.

Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management - Proven ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, provide high-level advice, and represent the organisation professionally in a range of forums and partnership arrangements.

Communication and Influencing Skills - Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, briefing papers and correspondence, and to influence and engage diverse stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.

Integrity, Cultural Awareness and People Leadership - Demonstrated commitment to ethical behaviour, cultural capability and inclusive leadership, with an ability to effectively lead and support diverse teams and deliver services that are culturally responsive, particularly in relation to Aboriginal people and communities.

The suitability requirements outlined will be what the panel will assess throughout the selection process.

Eligibility

Desirable Qualifications - Progress towards, or possession of, a relevant tertiary qualification in business, management, finance, human resources or a related discipline.

Permanent, fixed term, full time and part time appointments may be offered at Broome Regional Prison during this period.
