Exmouth District High School (DHS) is a proudly Independent Public School with approximately 550 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. We are committed to providing the best possible education for the students of our community and are charged with preparing our students for a diverse range of futures.
Exmouth is a coastal community situated in the remote northwest of Western Australia. Located about 1250km north of Perth, 850km north of the large regional city of Geraldton and 550km southwest of the Pilbara mining operations in Karratha, we are surrounded by Cape Range National Park and are the gateway to the unique Ningaloo Reef, recently listed as a World Heritage site. There is a permanent population of approximately 3,500 people which swells to thousands more during peak tourist periods. Due to the number of tourists visiting Exmouth, the town has many amenities which would not normally be expected in a town of its size.

The Role
As the Attendance Officer, you will provide operational and administrative support to the Student Support Coordinator and Student Support Team, assisting with the monitoring, recording, analysis, and reporting of student attendance data to promote student engagement, wellbeing, and positive educational outcomes. Working collaboratively with staff, students, families, external agencies, and community stakeholders, you will follow up unexplained and unauthorised absences, maintain accurate attendance records and support attendance improvement strategies.
The role also involves facilitating effective communication between the school and families, contributing to initiatives that enhance student wellbeing and school connectedness, and providing broader support within the Student Services area, including assisting with the management of the Student Services triage desk, responding to enquiries, maintaining confidential records, and supporting day-to-day operations. The successful applicant will ideally display strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills, the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy student-focused environment, and a commitment to confidentiality, teamwork, and positive student outcomes. We highly value applicants with experience working in a school or student services environment, proficiency in Compass and other student information management systems, advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data management and reporting, experience working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, knowledge of attendance processes, student engagement and wellbeing practices, and previous experience in a regional or remote school setting.
Please note that this is a school-based position and accommodation or housing is not provided; applicants are encouraged to secure accommodation prior to applying.
