About the role
The Department of Justice is seeking an outstanding senior executive to lead its Corporate Services portfolio and play a key role in shaping the future capability and performance of one of Western Australia’s most significant public sector agencies.
Reporting directly to the Director General and as a member of the Department’s senior leadership, the Assistant Director General Corporate Services provides strategic leadership across the critical enabling functions that underpin the delivery of justice services throughout Western Australia.
This is a broad and influential executive role with responsibility for human resources, finance, infrastructure and major projects, change and project management, procurement, knowledge management and information technology, together with associated risk management, audit and governance responsibilities. These responsibilities are distinct from the Department's independent audit and risk functions. The portfolio directly influences the Department's capacity to deliver effective, sustainable and responsive services to the Western Australian community.
Leading through an experienced team of senior executives, you will drive organisational performance and continuous improvement, strengthen corporate capability and ensure the Department is positioned to respond to changing service demands, emerging risks and future workforce, infrastructure and technology requirements.
You will be a trusted adviser to the Director General and an influential leader across the Department and broader public sector. You will bring strategic judgement, commercial and organisational acumen, and the ability to navigate complexity, build strong partnerships and translate strategy into practical and sustainable outcomes.
This is an opportunity for an accomplished executive to make a significant contribution to the performance and future direction of the Department and, through strong corporate leadership, support the delivery of a fair, just and safe community for all Western Australians.
About You
You will be an accomplished and contemporary executive leader with the capacity to operate strategically across a large and complex organisation. You will bring sound judgement, a strong focus on organisational performance and an ability to lead through others, build trusted relationships and deliver sustainable change.
Suitability Requirements
Throughout the selection process, you will be assessed against the following Suitability Requirements;
- Strategic corporate leadership – Demonstrated success at a senior executive level leading complex, multidisciplinary corporate services functions, with significant expertise in at least one relevant corporate discipline and the ability to provide strategic leadership across a broader portfolio.
- Leading organisational performance and transformation – Demonstrated ability to lead significant organisational change, drive contemporary and innovative approaches, improve organisational performance and deliver sustainable outcomes in a large and complex environment.
- Strategic judgement and navigating complexity – Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in complex and uncertain environments, think strategically and systemically, manage significant organisational risk, and make sound decisions that balance competing priorities and longer-term consequences.
- Influence, relationships and system leadership – Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships and influence at the most senior levels, work collaboratively across organisational and sector boundaries, and negotiate and deliver outcomes in a complex stakeholder and government environment.
- Executive leadership, culture and integrity – Demonstrated success in leading through other senior leaders, building organisational capability and an inclusive, high-performing culture, and modelling integrity, accountability and the values and behaviours expected of a senior public sector executive.
