About the Position
We are seeking to establish a pool of suitable applicants for an experienced legal practitioner to take on the key statutory role of Arbitrator (Case Management) in the Workers Compensation Arbitration Service of Western Australia.
The Arbitration Service is a high performing and collegiate environment responsible for the resolution of complex disputes in the Western Australian workers compensation and injury management scheme.
Arbitrators are independent decision makers on workers compensation disputes and preside over arbitrations to ensure fair and efficient resolution of those disputes. The Arbitrator (Case Management) handles a high volume of files, case managing progress towards arbitration through directions and interlocutory hearings.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate a track record in dispute resolution, litigation, and effective case management. An understanding of, or experience in the Western Australian workers compensation system or in personal injury litigation is desirable, but not essential.
To be eligible to apply, prospective applicants must be an Admitted Legal Practitioner of not less than five years standing as defined by the Legal Profession Uniform Law Application Act 2022, with relevant post-admission experience in a legal role.
Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which they may be considered for fixed term or permanent appointment to Arbitrator positions over the next 12 months. Appointees to the pool may also be offered sessional work.
Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be appointed to other similar vacancies that occur throughout the Agency over the coming 12 months.
