On Track to Thrive is a program being delivered through a cross-agency partnership, led by the Department of Justice in collaboration with WA Police Force and Departments of Communities, Education and Health. The program will provide supports focussed on a child’s development and wellbeing, strengthen protective factors for both the child and their family, and help shape a future where children are supported to thrive.
On Track to Thrive is made up of several key components, which all have the funding and support of WA Government. These include discreet funded services, working in a co-ordinated way to wrap supports around each child and their family for up to 12 months; and Expert Reference Groups, providing assessment and advice in relation to a tailored service response for each child. The Department of Education is dedicating resources to this program to support children’s learning and school engagement. Staff will work one-on-one with children in their schools or to reconnect with children participating in the program who have become disengaged from school.
The Role
The successful applicant will assist in the coordination of the On Track to Thrive student support program. This applicant will assist in developing and introducing systems and intervention strategies which provide a responsive and effective support service for Aboriginal students participating in the program, and family members and staff engaging with the program.
They will provide school staff with support in identifying and responding to the identified needs of Aboriginal students participating in the program. Develop supportive links between the Aboriginal student, the family, the college/school, regional office and other appropriate agencies in the community. They will also work in partnerships with key services providers and college/school staff to coordinate the delivery of identified activities that aim to support and engage Aboriginal students at risk.
They will be required to participate in case conferences with college/school staff, regional office staff and other agencies as appropriate and required by the program. Within the scope of the program and if required by identified intervention strategies, they will also assist a college/school to undertake work assessments on students, including liaising with parents/guardians, students, staff and any other relevant parties. They will also be expected to undertake administrative tasks as required by the pilot program, including appropriate data entry, report writing and management of student case notes. Assist the Department to effectively progress Cultural Responsiveness objectives, as outlined in Department plans and the scope of the On Track to Thrive program.
