Position Profile: Provides alcohol and other drug assessment, referral and intervention to offenders with a drug use problem, appearing in the Magistrate’s Court as part of a Diversion Program. Delivers alcohol and other drug community development, prevention and early intervention programs within the project’s rural and remote communities. Liaises with the Aboriginal Health Program Officer of the Drug and Alcohol Office regarding the specific supports required for the implementation of the program.

This is a Fixed Term Full Time appointment for 12 months, with the possibility of extension(s).

Suitability Criteria:

  1. Demonstrated experience working effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, including the development and delivery of culturally secure health education, prevention, and community development initiatives.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) services, including counselling, harm minimisation approaches, and awareness of relevant community health and support services.
  3. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships, work collaboratively within a team, and operate effectively with a high degree of autonomy.
  4. Current C Class Driver's Licence (or eligibility to obtain one) and the ability to travel as required to engage with communities and stakeholders.
