As part of Machinery of Government (MoG) changes functions from the Department of Local Government and Communities, the Department for Child Protection and Family Support, Housing Authority and Disability Services Commission have amalgamated to form the Department of Communities as of 1 July 2017.
Every day the Department of Communities - Housing makes a difference in the lives of Western Australians. The agency successfully collaborate and partner with private, government and not-for-profit agencies in the areas of land development, housing construction and property management.
Housing Direct is the Department of Communities – Housing’s Customer Contact Centre where maintenance and other housing related services and products are delivered. There is ongoing daily contact with customers by telephone, email and other communication channels. Through the Call Centre, Housing Direct officers are pivotal in assisting the Department of Communities - Housing to deal effectively with emergency and natural disaster events that cause damage to property.
We are seeking people interested in permanent and fixed term employment who are available to work on a full time or part time basis.
Successful candidates to the pool can be offered at-level appointment or assignments at other locations or to similar roles anywhere in the Department of Communities - Housing.
Candidates appointed from a pool into fixed term roles are eligible for appointment to permanent positions when they become available.
Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments will be made for future similar vacancies that arise within the next 12 months. From Mid 2018, all positions in Housing Direct will be based from Mirrabooka.

- Engage with our customers (by phone in the Contact Centre)
- Deliver outstanding service to our tenants, contractors, your colleagues and other clients accessing the Department of Communities - Housing’s services
- Solve problems and develop solutions within the scope of your role
