The Role
The successful applicant will ideally use explicit teaching strategies and exhibit effective behaviour management practices, for students with disabilities, to enhance student learning and wellbeing. Applicants should also be flexible, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, a commitment to professional learning and a high-level of participation in collaborative team planning.
The successful applicant should implement a specialist education program, tailored to the individual needs of students with disability in our Inclusive Learning Unit. They will ideally deliver differentiated teaching and structured learning environments in which the required instructional, curriculum and environmental adjustments support all students to achieve to their potential. The successful applicant should also possess knowledge of high-level positive behaviour support strategies and can develop individualised behaviour support plans for students. Whilst not essential it is highly desirable for applicants to have knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN).
Teachers in an education support environment positively manage a team of Education Assistants to create a safe and supportive learning environment for students. They engage with and contribute to the school community and work collaboratively with families, therapists, and outside agencies to improve student outcomes and create pathways for students beyond school.

Mobility appointments for permanent, metropolitan and south west teachers
Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
