We are seeking to establish a pool of Design and Technology Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2025. The Role
The role of the Design and Technology Assistant (D & T Assistant) is to prepare the classroom and workshop to enable the teacher to instruct students effectively. The D&T Assistant prepares specialised equipment and materials and provides operational advice for Design and Technology workshops, classes and demonstrations. This includes providing advice on safe use, storage and disposal of equipment, any related chemicals and wastes in accordance with occupational health and safety requirements, as well as maintaining appropriate documentation for equipment, machinery and materials. Suitable applicants will be able to design and construct teaching aids to meet standards that support teaching and curriculum requirements. They will also be required to maintain, evaluate and assess technical equipment, carry out repairs and maintenance on design and technology equipment and arrange off-site repairs. The D&T Assistant will assist with ordering supplies and equipment, and monitoring expenditure. Suitable applicants will hold a Certificate III in Work Health and Safety or equivalent qualification or experience.
