Appointment Pool
Mount Hawthorn Primary School (PS) are seeking to establish a pool of K-6 Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the remainder of the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements from the start of Term 4, 2024, up to the end of Term 4, 2025.
Suitable applicants will embrace our improvement agenda and strategic direction to implement whole school evidence-based teaching practices. They will have the capacity to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as a willingness to continuously grow their pedagogical skills. Demonstrated experience with the science of learning, explicit teaching strategies, TAPPLE, engagement norms, and daily review will be highly regarded. The school will continue to partner with Shaping Minds in 2025 to deliver high quality professional learning for teachers.
Mount Hawthorn PS opened in 1906 and is situated on Whadjuk Noongar boodja. The school caters for 960 students in Kindergarten to Year 6 with four to six classes per year level, and offers exceptional opportunities for students in science, music, sport, Aboriginal culture, and visual art. Our dedicated and professional teachers maintain an environment which supports each child every day to achieve their personal best. In addition, we constantly aim to deliver the highest standards of pastoral care and support services to enable our students to thrive.
Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
