Lesmurdie Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a passionate and innovative Performing Arts (Dance teacher) capable of managing and delivering the Dance program in the school, who is responsive to change and catering for the learning styles of future ready students.
You should have a proven ability to inspire Dance students and facilitate the development of independent and confident learners, have evidence of competence and leadership in undertaking performance presentations and other Dance performance initiatives and be willing to join our Arts team of like-minded professionals. This is a permanent 0.7FTE position commencing Term 1, 2024. There may be the opportunity to increase the teaching role and negotiate a higher FTE annually according to the needs of the school.
The successful applicant should have excellent interpersonal skills, be able to develop strong working relationships and have the ability to provide students with the highest quality curriculum delivery and programs within the Dance context in both Lower and Senior School Dance. As the successful applicant, you will have a thorough understanding of key Department and school priorities as well as knowledge of instructional and curriculum design. The desired applicant should have evidence of self-reflection that leads to improved performance. Lesmurdie SHS has an established reputation where all students are motivated to achieve excellence in their academic, sporting and cultural endeavours. We have a Department of Education (DoE) recognised Specialist Enrichment and Acceleration Program in Mathematics and Science (LEAP). Our students are friendly, confident and successful and our teaching and support staff provide a distinctive, comprehensive education with strong academic and vocational pathways assisted by effective pastoral care programs. Lesmurdie SHS is a full Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) school – expertise in using this platform to enhance student achievement is highly desirable.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
