About the role
The successful applicant will ideally possess experience in teaching a range of Design Technologies contexts and preferably have experience teaching Senior School Materials Design and Technology Automotive/Mechanics, Metal and Woodwork.
To be suitable for this role, the applicant should ideally be student and relationship focused, highly motivated, innovative and able to work effectively in a team environment, as well as exhibit an engaging and energetic teaching style. The successful applicant should ideally reflect and assess the effectiveness of their teaching practice using a variety of methods available within the school, promote an environment of active and positive learning, and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve to their highest potential. With effective interpersonal skills, the applicant will work closely with students, teachers, and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students.
In the first instance, only applicants with teaching qualifications will be considered. Where there are no suitable applicants with teaching qualifications, applicants without teaching qualifications may be considered.
Our school
Boyup Brook is situated in the Southwest of Western Australia approximately 270km from Perth.
Boyup Brook DHS is a level 5 district high school catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 10 with students moving on to other schools for the Year 11 and 12 component of their secondary education. Students are drawn from families that are involved in farming, viticulture, and local business. With the decline in rural operations student enrolment has decreased over the years. The school is located on two separate sites, with students from Kindergarten to Year 6 educated at the primary site and students from Year 7 to Year 10 at the Middle School site 600 metres away.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
