Teachers and School Administrators employed at Hedland Senior High School in 2023 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $10,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

About the Role
The successful applicant will engage in reflective practice, have a strong evidence-based teaching philosophy and be committed to whole-school pedagogical approaches. They will have the opportunity to make a lasting contribution to the school community by ensuring each student is on a pathway to success through consistent partnerships with students and their families. They will be confident in teaching across Years 7 to 10 and have a sound understanding of the West Australian (WA) Health and Physical Education Curriculum and Senior School Health and Physical Education courses. Knowledge and the ability to use learning strategies that successfully engage students will be highly regarded.
The Ideal Teacher
The successful applicant will possess the ability to create an effective, engaging, and inclusive learning environment based on high expectations. They will ideally have an understanding of appropriate assessments and the ability to use data to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching programs, set targets and plan for differentiated learning opportunities for all students in your class.
They are able to apply differentiated instruction and explicit teaching incorporating current and emerging technologies to best meet the needs of our students. They display a commitment to excellence, use a range of pedagogies and have the ability to establish and maintain a positive classroom learning environment using a ‘restorative’ approach that focuses on building resilience and self-confidence.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and the capacity to teach students of varying ability levels across Year 7 – 12 in a safe and accountable learning environment, differentiating curriculum where needed. Knowledge and experience in teaching Certificate Courses, metal fabrication, building and construction, or a passion for developing and teaching industrial systems being highly regarded.
We will consider an internal secondment opportunity for permanent teachers in other locations within the Department of Education who would like to work at our school for up to three years and retain their substantive position. ELIGIBILITY

TRAINING
