The Role

We are seeking applications from experienced candidates to fill the role of Rail Safety Advisor. This position sits within the Safety, Freight & Business Management Systems division and reports directly to the Manager Safeworking. In this role the incumbent will support the development and delivery of the PTA’s Safeworking system and projects, ensuring that the strategic Safeworking objectives of the organisation are consistently achieved. The winning candidate will drive positive cultural change in Safeworking and competence of rail safety workers through professional advice and guidance; will deliver Safeworking assurance activities of the PTA safety management system identified with the role and as directed by the PTA’s Manager Safeworking. 

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification OR substantial relevant experience.
  • Sound knowledge of Safeworking rules, procedures and rail safety activities.
  • Sound knowledge of Rail Safety National Law.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake rail accident/incident investigations and audits.

There is one fixed term appointment available for an immediate start to the 30/6/2024 with the possibility of extensions and/or permanency. Applicants must be in possession of a current WA ‘C’ or ‘C-A’ class Driver’s Licence or equivalent and must have the ability to work outside normal working hours, including callouts.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur for up to 12 months.
