We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated nursing leader to join our team
About the role: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a high-quality candidate to provide leadership in the delivery of nursing and midwifery services at Sir Charles Gairdner Osborne Park Health Care Group (SCGOPHCG) and across the broader North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS), including the Women and Newborn Health Service (WNHS), Mental Health, Public Health and Dental Services (MHPHDS).
In the position’s capacity as the principal nursing advisor to the Chief Executive and a member of the North Executive Team (NET); you will be responsible for providing innovative executive and professional leadership in the delivery of nursing, midwifery and patient support services across a broad and diverse portfolio. As the Area Director Nursing and Midwifery, you will build the nursing culture for the organisation during an exciting period of transformation and actively lead and promote reform. In addition, you will be responsible for the achievement of high standards of nursing practice, patient care, teaching, research and advising on clinical priorities and workforce models within a dynamic environment. The position holder will be a key contributor in leading exceptional patient care and patient experience. They will champion quality improvement initiatives to meet and exceed safety and quality objectives to ensure alignment with the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHSS).
About You: We are looking to appoint a candidate with proven senior nursing and midwifery leadership capability and a track record of operating in a complex health service environment, including a tertiary hospital setting. You will have demonstrated strategic leadership skills and a history of effectively functioning in complex organisations to create productive and dynamic work environments; with evidence of your ability to build positive working relationships and high performing teams. A proven ability to create a positive collegial environment and inspire others is essential.
A contemporary view of interprofessional working relationships and experience in leading innovation, change programs and reconfiguration that result in transformation will be core attributes of the successful candidate. You will also possess exceptional stakeholder management skills across a diverse range of people and excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Eligibility for registration with the WA Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia is an essential requirement.
About Us: The NMHS has approximately 8,917 full-time equivalent (FTE) staff and a budget of $2.16 billion. We provide health care and hospital services across a 1000km2 catchment area, serving a population of 736,907 people.
The NMHS consists of Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, King Edward Memorial Hospital, Joondalup Health Campus, Osborne Park Hospital and Graylands Hospital. We also deliver a range of state-wide, highly specialised multidisciplinary services from several NMHS hospital and clinical sites. The Sir Charles Gairdner Osborne Park health Care Group comprises Sir Charles Gairdner and Osborne Park Hospitals. Sir Charles Girdner Hospital (SCGH) is a renowned tertiary teaching hospital with a strong national and international reputation, offering over 625 beds. The hospital has a state-of-the-art Emergency Department and is the principal site in Western Australia for neurosurgery, liver transplant, stroke recovery; and it offers WA’s only comprehensive Cancer centre.
The Osborne Park Hospital (OPH) is a 187-bed community general hospital, and a partner hospital to SCGH. OPH provides comprehensive specialist health care services across - Rehabilitation and Aged Care Services and Younger Adult Rehabilitation, Surgical Services, and Women’s and Newborn Services.
