Appointment Pool
Waroona District High School (DHS) is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated, highly competent and enthusiastic Mathematics Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2023 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2023 school year.

As an expert practitioner, you will be student and relationship focused, innovative and motivated, with the ability to work collaboratively in team environments. You will ideally possess the professional knowledge, understandings and experience to develop and implement an engaging and relevant secondary school Mathematics curriculum. Furthermore, you should possess a commitment to excellence in teaching and engage in regular self-reflection.
Promoting an environment of active and positive learning and providing educational opportunities and activities which cater for different student learning needs and enable students to achieve success are extremely important to this role. Experience differentiating curriculum and proven outcomes catering to students with educational need is critical. An ability and the qualifications to teach across other learning areas would also be highly desirable.
Suitable applicants will ideally have experience in instructional classroom management strategies for effective classroom behaviours, which facilitate learning. This focus on social and emotional development is crucial to the success of the delivery of the curriculum. The teaching expectation is every teacher is delivering explicit teaching strategies and utilising formative assessment and data analysis to provide quality and effective teaching practices that target students’ needs.
Waroona DHS has approximately 250 students from Kindergarten to Year 10. We are a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) school prioritising whole school collaboration, engaging staff, students and parents in the development and evolution of shared expectations. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
