Final year pre-service teachers can now apply for Limited Registration and join our Casual Teacher Pool to work in public schools across the state.
Casual teachers play an important role supporting students when their teacher is unavailable or a school requires additional support. Casual appointments can range from three hours to four weeks at a single school or educational site.
A number of schools are using the Casual Staff Seeker, our online casual booking tool that will send you booking requests via text message based on your preferences and availability.
Who can apply?
Are you living in WA and are interested in casual teaching work? Are you in the final year of your education degree at an Australian university?
Our Casual Staff Seeker will enable you to register your interest quickly. Follow the application steps online and be sure to include all the required information outlined below.
If you are a qualified teacher, please register your interest through the Casual Teacher Pool.

Step 3: Create your online Casual Staff Seeker profile.
Once your Limited Registration is granted by the TRBWA you will be given access to the department’s Casual Staff Seeker tool.
This is where you can create a profile and update your availability, location preferences and other information. Schools can then contact you regarding casual teaching opportunities via text message.
Your acceptance into this pool does not guarantee that you will receive requests to work. You may also receive requests from schools in your local area but not in your selected preferences.
Employment as a pre-service casual teacher can't be used as recognition of prior learning or credits towards university studies. This includes Teacher Professional Assessment or Professional Experience units.
