An appointment to Harrisdale Senior High School (SHS) presents a tremendously exciting opportunity to join the staff of a new high school committed to improving students’ lives through learning and achievement. The successful applicant will enjoy a unique opportunity to help establish the school’s Dance Learning Area and will play a vital role in developing the school’s emphases on pastoral care and co-curricular programs.

The successful applicant for this position will ideally be an expert, passionate Dance teacher, with a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. Harrisdale SHS opened in 2017 at Year 7 level and now caters for students from Years 7-to-12. The successful applicant should therefore possess the professional knowledge, understandings and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary school Dance curriculum within the school context.  Importantly, they should be enthusiastic adopters of a school wide pedagogy based on direct, explicit instruction who are keen to work collaboratively with superordinates and colleagues across the learning areas.

Harrisdale SHS offers a wonderful opportunity for local students to access a high-quality secondary education close to home. Currently, the school has an enrolment of 2,050 students. In 2022, the 'Year 7 Class of 2017' will graduate as Year 12 students.

Harrisdale is a rapidly growing suburb located approximately 28 kilometres south of the Perth CBD. The school is located on Laverton Crescent, adjacent to the City of Armadale's new playing fields and sports pavilion and Harrisdale Primary School.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.
