Bletchley Park Primary is a large level 6 school with approx. 840 students. It is located in Southern River and has an ICSEA of 1043. It frequently out performs Like Schools in (National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy) NAPLAN and consistently performs above NAPLAN state averages. It has approximately 100 dedicated and caring staff who work in unison to meet the needs of all students academically, socially and emotionally. The school is seeking an energetic, self-motivated, organised registered psychologist who can ideally provide a high level of consultancy to the leadership team and support the implementation of the schools Business Plan.

Suitable applicants will be required to conduct assessments and support the collaborative development of plans to meet the needs of individual and small groups of student’s. They may be required to provide professional learning to both teaching and non-teaching staff in behaviour management, social skill programs and student well-being. They will need to work collaboratively with the school chaplain to support staff, students and the wider community.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  1. Ability to implement school psychology services and programs in an educational environment to maximise student learning outcomes.
  2. Knowledge of the implementation and evaluation of a variety of psychological approaches appropriate for individual, group and system-level intervention.
  3. High level written and oral communication skills, demonstrating the capacity to produce correspondence, reports and case notes, and interview and training (facilitation) skills.
  4. Highly developed interpersonal skills, which demonstrate an ability to function in a self-directed way, and as a member of an interdisciplinary team, working with a range of clients across the lifespan, Department personnel and inter-agency partners across a variety of contexts.
  5. Ability to apply analytical and conceptual skills to issues identification, risk assessment and analysis, intervention and evaluation.

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
  • hold or be eligible for general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia; or
  • hold or be eligible for provisional registration with the Psychology Board of Australia with:
    • an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited 5th year qualification in psychology; or
    • an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited 4th year qualification and a recognised qualification in teaching (or Graduate Diploma in School Psychology)
  • obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
