Are you a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher with a strong commitment for improving the educational outcomes of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder?

Ocean Reef Senior High School (SHS) are seeking to establish a pool of Education Support Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year.

Ocean Reef SHS is seeking highly skilled teachers to deliver specialist learning programs to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The Specialist Learning Program will provide students from Year 7 to 12, diagnosed with ASD (without intellectual disability) with targeted evidence-based programs aimed at increasing age-appropriate academic engagement, organisational skills, social thinking, peer relationships and self-regulation.

Suitable applicants will be part of the secondary school staff and may, over time, move between the specific role within the Specialist Learning Program for students with ASD and mainstream class roles. In collaboration with the Specialist Learning Coordinator (Autism), teachers will provide innovative and engaging lessons for students and contribute to their sense of belonging and overall wellbeing. Teachers of this program will develop highly personalised learning plans to facilitate access to age-appropriate curriculum and will apply evidence-based practice and pedagogy to meet the needs of students. They will support the implementation of the school business plan and be committed to whole school approaches and initiatives.

At Ocean Reef SHS, we are committed to providing a learning environment that allows our students and teachers to reach their potential. Through a high performance culture, and teacher efficacy, we nurture every student’s talents, fostering the knowledge, skills, capabilities, attributes and values they will require for successful ongoing learning and life beyond school. Students, parents and teachers work as partners, collaborating to ensure that each student is on a pathway to success.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
