ABOUT THE ROLE

The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation is seeking a passionate, professional and driven individual for a permanent full-time opportunity as an Environmental Officer, Specified Calling Level 1 within the Contaminated Sites branch.

This highly varied and challenging role is primarily responsible for providing specialist technical advice and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders on the investigation, remediation and management of contaminated land. This includes the critical assessment of site investigations, site classifications and assessment of planning and development applications in the context of site contamination, along with a range of other projects – all within a supportive team environment.

This role will provide the successful applicant with unrivalled professional exposure to a significant and diverse range of contamination and remediation issues, and will help to develop their career as a contaminated land and regulatory professional. The Department will also provide access to a range of professional training and development opportunities to build skills and experience across a diverse range of technical areas for the successful candidate. The Department’s broad regulatory responsibilities in environment matters also provides excellent future career opportunities with significant scope for gaining experience across a range of internal business, scientific or engineering roles.

    4. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders including the ability to gain consensus and commitment from others and resolve issues and conflict.
    5. Proven ability to successfully deliver products and services to the required standards within the required timeframes.
