The Collection Services Directorate is responsible for the Library’s physical and digital collections and associated data through collection activities and systems encompassing acquisition, process, storage, preservation, digitisation, distribution and access.


This is a full-time, permanent vacancy.

A current National Police Clearance Certificate (no older than 6 months) will be required prior to commencement of employment, as per the Department’s Police Record Screening Policy.

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, applicants for this position may be considered for ‘similar’ vacancies within the Department and/or the wider public sector which arise within a reasonable period of time. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Future vacancies may be considered for permanent and fixed-term, part-time and full-time positions.

You must have a Bachelor of Arts (Librarian and Corporate Information Management) or approved equivalent to be considered for this position. All overseas qualifications must have been assessed for Australian equivalency.


This position is located in the Perth Cultural Centre hub close to Yagan Square and the bustling café, tourist and shopping districts.

Job Description

To provide leadership and direction for the collection and data management of State Library and Public Library materials, ensuring resources are appropriately managed and deployed.

Responsibilities include leading policy and research, developing strategic partnerships, and having oversight of all team functions.

As part of the Directorate’s management team this position also participates in strategic planning and contributes to the development and implementation of directorate and cross organisational project and programs which contribute to the State Library’s strategic direction.
